It is not necessary to dilute these or to change their consistency. Simply take the piece of abrasive paste wrapped in paper out of the plastic tube and tear off a piece (about 1 cm) of the paper around it. Now pull the blade to be sharpened, at a uniform angle and moderate pressure over the applied jeweler's rouge. The result is a dark grinding abrasion.
