General information about inserting push-buttons/snaps in conjunction with a push-button/snap setting tool:
(See Fig. 5.) The items are composed as follows:
# 1: Cap + Socket ("Cap" is the part of the push-button that should be visible from the outside)
# 2: Stud + Eylet
Our manual setting tools consist of 2 parts, a punch and an anvil. The anvil has 2 distinctively different sides. The rounded surface is suitable for the "Cap", the area with the small elevation in the middle is suitable for the "Eylet" -
If you now want to use the parts from # 1, punch the leather in the right place and push the "cap" through this hole. (The pin should be about 2-3 mm out of the leather, so in the course of a firm connection with the socket can be created.) Place the anvil with the round trough up on a solid surface and then position the leather with the inserted "Cap" in this round trough. Now place the "socket" on the pin facing you and place the baton on the pin. With one or two light hammer blows, the pen is now circulated and creates a tight connection.
Proceed in the same way for the second pair of push-buttons (# 2), but now use the area with the small elevation in the middle of the anvil. Now you put the "Eylet" on the anvil pushed through the leather. Place the "Stud" over the eylet's pin and make as already described the connection with the help of the punch.
