Osborne Creaser
Osborne Creaser / Edge Beader / Push Beader
To create a decorative groove (crease) while rounding the edge of the leather. Available in 5 different sizes. The tools have a fixed stop whose distance reflects the respective tool size.
For use, moisten the leather edge to be processed and let it dry until the leather returned to its natural colour. Now you can the creaser and work the edge several times in succession with moderate pressure. Finally, to intensify the curvature of the edge, angle the tool further towards you during use. In retrospect, the edge can still be burnished with an edge slicker or burnisher. (Under certain circumstances, the drawn groove is compressed again when using the edge slicker or burnisher, a new finish with the Osborne Creaser provides quick remedy)
Alternatively: reverse the order of tool use described above. First burnish the edge with the edge slicker or burnisher, then press in the decoration with the Osborne Creaser.
Advantage: This may save you possible rework.
Disadvantage: On the already rounded and burnished edge, the Osborne Creaser can not perform as well as with a freshly cut edge.
Please note that due to construction of the tools, especially the fixed stopper, it is difficult to work with thinner leathers. We therefore recommend the use of leathers of at least 2.2 - 2.4 mm or thicker. With thinner leathers, the edge to be worked on must be slightly underlaid (raised) to be able to produce a good impression.
